DAZZLING RED OVER THE TOP TO MAKE IT THREE IN A ROW

Nov 13, 2017

After two really strong wins at the Gold Coast and then Beaudesert, Dazzling Red had his first city start at Doomben on Saturday and he did not disappoint his trainer Chris Munce when taking out the second race of the day, the BRONCOS SUPERSTORE 3YO HANDICAP over 1200metres.

Jumping from the inside barrier, Dazzling Red was first out however by the 800metre jockey Jeff Lloyd, had let Miss Exfactor and Zukaz slide up and take the one, two positions letting the gelding sit back in third to get the perfect run of the race.  With Zukaz continuing to lead the way in the run, Dazzling Red sat back about a length of the leader and under a good hold from Lloyd.  As they travelled into the turn for home the pace began to pick up and when the hit the straight it was on.  Zukaz and Miss Exfactor took off and at the 200metre mark Dazzling Red was still a length and a half off the two front runners, but as Lloyd pulled him out from behind them he began to knuckle down and chase.  In the final 50metres Dazzling Red seemed to jump out of the ground and race past to grab the win by a length over Miss Exfactor in a time of 1:10:01.

Chris said that the horse is much improved after his gelding and has turned into a very nice galloper.  β€˜He is very easy to look after around the stables and does not need a lot of work.  He is a very competitive horse just goes out and gets the job done, no fuss,’ said Munce. β€œI think he can get out to the 1350m-1400m but we will see what happens.’

The 3year-old son of Red Dazzler, out of the More than Ready mare, More Than Sharp, has now had 7 starts for 3 wins and 2 seconds.

Congratulations to owners Mr M Foo, Mrs S E Wee and Mr J Fu.
