ALL EXPERTEA ALL TOO GOOD ALL THE WAY
Dec 26, 2017
On Wednesday at Doomben Expertea chalked up her second win under trainer Chris Munce when she won Race 4, the SKY RACING Class 1 Handicap, over 1600metres. The lightly raced 4-year old mare never looked like she was going to lose the race, crossing the line in 1:41:83 and running the last 600m in 33:56.
Pinging from barrier one Expertea was the first runner out and jockey Ronnie Stewart did not waste the opportunity. Letting the mare go straight to the lead she was quickly in front by two lengths before relaxing into her run. There was no panic from Stewart as Brickhall soon strode up to settle about three quarters of a length off her outside as he kept the mare rolling along. At the 1000 metre mark Expertea was still in front, a length and a half clear of Brickhall with the rest for the field trailing another length back. As they travelled up into the home turn Stewart sat patiently on the mare waiting for the right moment to kick her up in gear. She started to pull away at the 300metre and as the rest of the field began the chase home Ronnie gave the reins a shake and she broke away showing them a clean pair of heels.Ridden hands and heels by Stewart, Expertea crossed the finishing line, in front, by two lengths.
‘She was very strong today. Leading from the start, maintaining her gallop and still be able to sprint home. She has come back in good order this preparation and I am very happy with her.’ Chris stated. ‘There are a couple of nice races coming up in the next few weeks so I will see how she pulls up over the next few days and go from there.’
Expertea is by Al Maher (Danehill) out of the Viscount mare Chai. Her race record now stands at 9-2:1:2
Congratulations to all her owners.
