Trainer Chris Munce will be looking for back-to-back wins in the $500,000 Aquis QTIS 2YO Jewel (1200m) when two-year-old filly BUCKETS OF PRIDE contests the juvenile feature at the Gold Coast today.

Munce took out the inaugural running of the 2YO Jewel last year with stable star BOOMSARA at his third career start and returns 12 months on with BUCKETS OF PRIDE, who is attempting to win the race first-up from a spell.

The Tycoon Ruler filly proved her credentials as an early-running type when she ran home for second on a heavy track in the first Metropolitan two-year-old race of the year last October and started once more a fortnight later when she finished sixth behind Jewel favourite The Odyssey before being sent for a spell.

She tuned up for her first-up assignment with a close-up fourth in a Doomben barrier trial (Watch the video below) and although rated as an outsider at $41 in betting markets, Munce says the wet track will boost her chances.

The stable also has SKATE TO PARIS lining up in the other feature race on the Gold Coast program, the $125,000 Listed Goldmarket (1200m), along with MONACO PLAYBOY in the BenchMark 70 Handicap (1200m).

At Flemington, the stable has popular grey URBAN RULER racing in the inaugural $5 Million All Star Mile.

Chris previews the stable’s runners below:

Aquis Park Gold Coast: Gold Coast Turf Club Saturday 16, March 2019 | View race field

Colours No. / Horse Name / Barrier Jockey Weight
3. Monaco Playboy (13) Michael Murphy     59.5kg

TRAINER COMMENTS: “He is third-up into this race and had a jump out earlier in the week at Doomben so he is fit and has progressed well heading in this. The heavy track certainly helps his chances as he’s performed well on them in the past and the 2kg claim from Michael Murphy will also be to his advantage.”

Race 7 – 3:22PM AQUIS QTIS 2YO JEWEL (1200 METRES)
Colours No. / Horse Name / Barrier Jockey Weight
8. Buckets Of Pride (8) Ryan Wiggins      55kg

TRAINER COMMENTS: “The wet track helps her chances in this tough race and she has trialled up well in the lead up to this race. She is fit and well and it is a nice race with fantastic prizemoney to kick off her campaign in.”

Race 9 – 4:42PM TAB GOLDMARKET (1200 METRES)
Colours No. / Horse Name / Barrier Jockey Weight
15. Skate to Paris (1) Matthew McGillivray       54kg

TRAINER COMMENTS: “She deserves her chance in a race like this. I am very happy with her going into this race where it is her toughest assignment to date but I am confident that she will acquit herself well here. She jumped out well on Tuesday and is doing everything right in her work in preparation for a tilt at the Goldmarket.”

Race 8 – 5:10PM ALL-STAR MILE (1600 METRES)
Colours No. / Horse Name / Barrier Jockey Weight
10. Urban Ruler (8) Jamie Mott        59kg

TRAINER COMMENTS: “It’s obviously a very tough race but it’s a great thrill for the owners and the stable to have a horse  competing in such a prestigious race. He travelled down to Cranbourne well earlier in the week and we know he’ll be trying his very best.”
