A change of training tactics and a key gear change proved the difference with JOHNNY WHITESOX who returned to the winner’s stall with a tough win at the Gold Coast today.

Trainer Chris Munce revealed a trackwork session over the jumps had helped switch on JOHNNY WHITESOX, while also crediting jockey Matthew McGillivray for recommending a key gear change.

“He’s come back in good order this time around and I actually jumped him yesterday too which might have put his mind on the job a little bit,” said Munce.

“I’ve got to give a pat on the back for Matthew, who recommended that we put a tongue tie on him after his last start and it seems to have done the trick.”

The result marked the gelding’s fourth win from 14 career starts.
