Trainer Chris Munce was handed a major boost ahead of Saturday’s $2 Million Magic Millions 2YO Classic after KAVAK drew perfectly in barrier 1 for the feature race.

Part owner David Devine was tasked with randomly selecting the barrier for the race at Tuesday’s barrier draw on the Gold Coast and couldn’t have chosen any better after landing the prized inside draw.

The two-year-old Deep Field colt tuned up for Saturday’s race with an impressive gallop in company on the course proper at Eagle Farm on Tuesday morning.

Munce said he was delighted with the barrier draw in an extremely open race.

“This year the race is very open and I don’t think there is any stand out,” Munce told Radio Tab.

“In that situation, to have a good draw is certainly a big bonus and I can’t believe the price of this horse ($51).

“He’s been targeted for this race and I’ve brought him along steadily.

“He’s going to be well ridden by Nash Rawiller and I think he’ll run one hell of a race.”
