Progressive staying filly AL JOOD unleashed her strong finishing sprint to claim her third win from eight career starts at the Sunshine Coast yesterday.
The daughter of Al Maher relished the step-up to 1800m along with the sting out of the track, finishing powerfully under the urgings of experienced hoop Larry Cassidy to score by 1.75 lengths.
The win marked AL JOOD’s third win from three starts at the Sunshine Coast and continued the stable’s recent purple patch of form.
AL JOOD had been on a path towards the Queensland Oaks prior to the outbreak of COVID-19 and stable representative Corey Munce believes she will appreciate rising in distance even further than the 1800m as she works through her grades.
“She’s only a three-year-old but she’s got plenty of depth to her,” said Munce.
“I think she’s only going to get better as she gets over further.”
