DEGAS, named in honour of famous painter Edgar Degas, broke through for his maiden victory with a dominant win over 1400m at the Gold Coast today.

The well-named son of Show A Heart (out of Art Gallery) overcame a wide barrier, jumping well and taking control of the RACE before kicking clear under the urgings of Justin Huxtable to score by 3.75 lengths.

The win was ‪a satisfying result for the stable and his large group of owners after trainer Chris Munce had tinkered with his training regime since being ordered back to the barrier trials after his last start.

DEGAS was a $90,000 purchase by Munce Racing from the 2018 Magic Millions sale.

Congratulation to owners: Mr D G Williamson, Kathyce Racing, Mrs M Lindemann, Mr J J McKiernan, Murrumba, Mr D J Watkins, Miss S I Watkins, Mr C P Goddard, Mr P M White, Mr W Treleaven, Mr J J Hinsch, Mr R Hinsch, Mr J Hinsch, Mr R Jakeman, Mr J B Hall, Mr A G Jolly, Mr J D Dever, Mr L Warfield, Mr B A Mcswaine.
