OUTBACK GLADIATOR showed great bravery on a heavy Gold Coast track to break through for his first win on Saturday.

On his first try over 1400m, the 4YO gelding missed the start and reached the turn near the rear of the field, but surged past his rivals down the home straight under the urgings of apprentice Michael Murphy to register his maiden victory at his fifth start.

Outback Gladiator put the writing on the wall with an encouraging third when resuming from a spell over 1200m last start and looks set for an exciting preparation ahead.

Congratulations to his two happy owners Mr A J Burford and Mr P R Stevenson.
