UNGUARDED claimed her first Metropolitan victory and her second win in three starts when she motored home to take out the Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1200m at Doomben on Saturday.

The 5YO mare is arguably racing in career-best form, having backed up her win at Ipswich last month with another dominant display to claim her first metropolitan success.

UNGUARDED found herself eighth at the 400m mark, but let down impressively in the home straight under the urgings of jockey Larry Cassidy to score by 1.25 lengths.

The winner’s cheque for $27,500 took UNGUARDED’s prizemoney and bonus earnings past the $200,000 mark from 24 career starts.

Congratulations to her owners: Mr G J De Vries, Mrs M I De Vries, Miss A L De Vries, Mr J De Vries.
