PLAYBOY CHASING METRO SUCCESS AT IPSWICH

Aug 28, 2018

MONACO PLAYBOY will be chasing his first Metropolitan win when he steps up in grade in the Schweppes Benchmark 70 Handicap (1680m) at Ipswich tomorrow.

Having already registered two nice provincial wins at the Sunshine Coast this preparation, the Monaco Consul gelding steps up to midweek Metropolitan level and has been allocated the top weight of 58kg, although will carry just 1kg over the minimum with the advantage of the 3kg claim from apprentice Clayton Gallagher.

"Playboy strikes what looks to be a nice for him to try to rack up a Metropolitan win for us and the likelihood of a soft track obviously helps him a bit too," said trainer Chris Munce.

"There looks to be quite a bit of speed in the race so hopefully he can get in and relax behind a couple of runners and I'm sure he'll be very strong to the line is he normally is.

"The horse is very well, he looks great and I'm hoping that he can rack up another win for us again tomorrow."
